You said it. It's kind of sad that ...Damn munk. You said it. It's kind of sad that we are all such trend beasts, considering that we have far less choices, available to us, than we did 20 years ago. Hype marketing is a major factor too. If I wanted to buy J's in 1989, I went to the mall, and bought some. They were still overpriced, but no one was trying to kill me at the exit. This is where hype marketing steps in, and plays on all of our weaknesses. They make you think you HAVE to have this shit to fit in. It's bullshit. All of it, and they accomplish this by restricting availability. The saddest part, is that this marketing strategy comes for brothas & sistas first. Whitey is cheap as fuck. But black folk NEED to be at the top of that trend game, whatever the hell it is. I get it, to a point, but don't let these soulless assholes beat you into a place where they think you should be.
